WheyBetterProtein Chocolate Immune Blend of Vitamins

These taste just like normal chocolate. You might think this is not what you wanted to know, but having tried quite a lot of different types of protein packed products in the past that taste different to say the least, I was quite impressed that with these packed with 17 grams of protein and they taste normal, that is a good thing in my books.

They come with a good set of vitamins too with no added sugar which is great news.

The good however does come with the bad and that is it comes with just over 400 calories so if you are looking to gain weight then that's fine else you'll be hitting the gym more than usual to cut back the luxuries of this great tasting bar.

I've tried quite a few protein snacks and the chocolatey ones have all tasted a bit yuck to me so the first big surprise is that this tastes almost the same as normal chocolate. Good flavour and sweet and creamy too. There is just s hint of a powdery aftertaste but this is only slight. It's low in sugar but contains a sweetener instead which in high doses will have a laxative effect and personal response to this will vary. Fortunately for me, I’m not the kind of person who ever wolfs down a whole chocolate bar in one go anyway so, a few blocks of this is a nice little treat after a workout and helps keep me full for a little while at least!

I don't always like protein bars. However, I love protein bars that use polyols as a sugar source. As I understand it, this is a sugar derived from a lower sugar source. Effectively, it tastes as good, but the process used makes it less healthy. That said, these bars are still fairly high in sugar and carbs. That means they're ideally suited for those who are very active indeed, rather than people who just fancy adding protein to their diet. If that's you, give this a go!

To be fair I did eat the whole bar on an empty stomach, this most likely the cause of my laxative, well. It happened 30-40 minutes after having it.

I took 2 stars off because:

1: The maltitol must be in high amounts as it tasted really sweet, and it makes me want to eat more, I was hoping the minimum cocoa solids were above 40%, plus this is the main reason for any laxative effects. Typically I thought it meant if you have more than 1 whole bar per day it would cause laxative, but apparently it's better to have in small portions.

2: Cocoa solids are only 40% this would be better at 100% or at least 76-90% should be it's minimum, to be fair this is milk chocolate so you can't really go too high otherwise it would be classified as dark chocolate.

3: Expensive for only 12 bars, at this price you may as well get 1 month supply of protein whey powder.

The good things are:

1: The taste it's very nice, despite it being on the sweeter side.

2: Doesn't have much sugar in it, mostly made of sugar alcohol called maltitol, but does contain some normal sugar probably from natural sources, since it does say no added sugar. It has 5.2g only for the whole 75g bar.

3: Gluten free.

4: Palm oil free.

End results:

A tasty treat that is decent, but not for me as it is addictive to eat, and causes me laxative after 1 bar. To make this better I would take out sugar completely by increasing the cocoa solids to 90-100% and substitute with vanilla extract for the hint of sweet flavour like the Marks n Spencers Single origin ones that taste great even at 85%, and don't make me binge eat, as 100% dark has 0.4g sugar per 100g.

Then I would put in at least 31 bars, for 40 quid. Taking out maltitol sweetener as it is causing laxative effects. This product could be perfect. The more bitter, and sour the better anything is for health. Side note this product contains milk, and without lactase enzyme that I take with this, I wouldn't be able to digest it because of the milk, plus it is better to eat something first, before this protein chocolate.

This is a delicious protein bar and you really can't stop eating it. Always I do have it not in my backpack while going to work so if I want something sweet I will eat these ones. This chocolate bar just melts in the mouth and does not leave what artificial aftertaste like some other bars out there. Which I really like.

However, if you trying to lose weight these bars are quite calorie dense, as per bar it's 404 kcal, which is a lot. But it's not really a problem if trying to bulk it. It offers 17g of protein per bar which is decent, as well additionally it has some vitamins which is always good.

Overall really nice bars, but they are highly overpriced really, as you can get some other well-known brands for a similar amount for half a price. However, if you can afford to get these they beat competitors by taste easily.

I'll start off and say these taste really nice and the way they've laid it out to snap off is super convenient. I will say that the price is definitely a factor to consider when looking to order, but compared to grenade bars which are around £2.50 it is higher, however these are 70g compared to 60g with the grenade, so I think it's a fair markup. Flavour is great and the multi vitamins inside of it is a desirable think I like to see.

Is really additive.. taste so good .. good value for money
