Smally's Biltong

Good biltong but not as authentic as I've purchased in the past and I'm addicted to it. Worth buying though I usually have a few types in my cupboard at one time it's good to see what's out there

EDIT: Ok, I changed my mind. This was horrendous. I don't know whether my pack was spoilt or not, but from the very little I actually ate of it just to try, it made me violently unwell. Food poisoning unwell, not just an upset stomach. I've been horizontal for 2 days now. If I still had the original packaging and product, I would be sending it to food safety standards for review. But I don't because I threw it away!

ORIGINAL: Flavour not for me but texture was good (stars are for texture and cut of meat). I usually buy Simply African Foods Biltong which has been my favourite for years. I thought I’d try a different brand as this had such good reviews and this was quicker delivery. I don't know what it was specifically about the taste, but I didn't like the flavour at all, it left a strange flavour in my mouth for some time after trying. It was also less salty than my preference as well. However, the quality of the meat and cuts were fantastic, I just won't be eating it. My other issue was the ‘once opened use within 3 days’ which I can't see has been specified on the sellers page anywhere. I bought this to take away on a 7 day break and if I had liked the flavour it wouldn't have lasted, therefore had I known I wouldn't have purchased.

I've bought this a few times now and it's just the most affordable jerky for the price while also tasting really nice! I've only tried the OG flavour & loved it, but super tempted to try the chili chutney as well as it sounds great.

It's quite chewy but I like that because it means that it doesn't immediately dissolve in your mouth and you get more out of it. The flavour is just very moreish & satisfying for a jerky & not super overexaggerated either like some of the tiny jerky packets you can get at shops that taste super artificial.

Generally just the best jerky option out there for people who don't want to spend a humongous amount of money but still want to get a really great beef jerky! :)

I love this biltong! I’m a South African so I know my biltong. I wish it wasn't so expensive everywhere. I’ll definately buying this one again. The packaging isn't resealable unfortunately, so I bought a resealable bag myself.

Not too bad. Packaging needs to be improved so that it has a seal. The biltong is also quite salty.

Good biltong, one of the better examples out there in my honest opinion. But a price hike of £5 per 500g in less than a week is too much. I had it in my basket to order more. Luckily I noticed the big mark up before I bought it.

Wow, this is REAL authentic Biltong! I've only ever had the supermarkets packets version, which looks and tastes pretty processed.

This Smally's Biltong has a far more natural appearance, is really well flavoured with pepper, and simply far nicer to eat. Not too chewy and digests well.

In my photo is supermarket stuff on the left, Smally's on the right, can clearly see the shape and colouring of Smally's looks so much better.

250g pack size is far better for packaging, no tiny bags every day, this will last me a week or more. You've got me as a new longtime customer!
